
I stumbled upon Wheatgrass at my local supermarket last week. I had always though it was just very green grass used for display and gardens. When I found out it can be consumed, and has amazing benefits I was intrigued. I can officially say, I am now an addict.
For those of you who don’t know. Wheatgrass is a plant that you can buy, usually in small potting units. You can grow it as well. It becomes fully mature and ready to harvest in just less than 2 weeks! Here are some many benefits;
Wheatgrass is Nutritious -Wheatgrass has very high amounts of vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium, potassium, zinc, magnesium, iron and protein These sources also propose that one ounce of Wheatgrass juice is equivalent in vitamins, minerals, and amino acids to two and a half pounds of green vegetables. Take an ounce of Wheatgrass juice daily, can add great nutritional benefits to your diet you may be missing.
Wheatgrass is an Appetite Suppressant. Wheatgrass provides extremely nutritional value, which is very low in calories, and expands when water is added. This results in a person eating less, although not feeling as hungry. The nutritional value of Wheatgrass Juice is so high, many people don’t feel craving to overeat.
Wheatgrass Detoxifies – Wheatgrass juice channels the lymph system, which transports away many toxins from body cells. Wheatgrass is an influential cleanser. Sometimes, it may cause immediate reactions with harmful toxins and mucus in the stomach. This has been known to cause nausea, and is a main dislike and concern with Wheatgrass. Start very small amounts (1oz or so a day) and work up. Although I have not experienced nausea, people with weaker stomachs may. Drinking on an empty stomach can help, so it does not interfere with digested food. If you want to make lots, refrigerate and try to drink within a day or two. The longer it sits, the fewer nutrients are release and potential for bacteria and mold can increase.
Wheatgrass has to be juiced. This also of course, makes it easy to consume. Now, drinking grass not appealing to you? You can mix it with many drinks, shakes, just about anything. In fact, a few peaches, pinch of sugar and a handful of fresh Wheatgrass is one of my favorites.
